Developer purchases more property in Valley Homebuilder expects to add 40 jobs | News

Developer Robert Grayston has purchased another vacant property in the Valley and has already leased 100,000 square feet of warehouse space to two companies.

Grayston recently acquired the 50-acre property at 195 Airport Road formerly occupied by Arcon Homes which filed for bankruptcy last year.

Bloomsburg-based Modular Steel Systems is leasing a 50,000-square-foot warehouse at the site and Demeter Perfume, which currently operates a manufacturing plant on Sassafras Street in Selinsgrove which is owned by Grayston, is adding a new division and will be leasing an additional 50,000 square foot space at Airport Road, he said.

“A lot of people are interested (in the warehouse space). I don’t think it will be empty for long,” said Grayston, who hasn’t yet turned his attention to marketing the office space.

Jon Stouffer, vice president of Modular Steel Systems which has manufactured modular homes, hotels and dormitories since 2012, said he searched for a suitable site to expand the business for 14 months.

The Airport Road property offered ample square-footage and ceiling heights of 20 feet and more, 10 acres of storage space to keep inventory as well as an affordable lease, said Stouffer.

He anticipates hiring up to 40 people to work at the company’s Selinsgrove location when it begins operations in four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, Grayston, who for the past 10 years has been purchasing properties across the Valley, including several downtown Selinsgrove buildings, nearly 200 acres in Shamokin Dam he plans to develop for single and multi-family homes, and 439 acres of undeveloped land in Danville, continues to attract new business and allow existing companies to expand in the area.

One of those locations is 616 S. High St., Selinsgrove, that had been occupied for six years by Fresh Roasted Coffee before moving late last year to a larger building at 200 N. River Ave. in Sunbury.

Grayston said he’s already leased the building to another growing company, Selmax Corp., a plastic molding manufacturer based at 599 S. High St., Selinsgrove.
