Paul and Pauline McBride owners and creators of the award winning Sussex Prairie garden based in the West Sussex Weald near the village of Henfield, are planning to build a Corten steel tower with a mid, and top viewing deck. The tower will give extraordinary views of the Prairie Garden, and of the South Downs and Chanctonbury Ring.

They are calling on crowd funding to build the tower designed by award winning architect Sandy Rendel with structural engineers Structure Workshop.

They hope that it will give garden visitors a chance to see the overall layout and design of the garden will add to the visitor experience. A view, which up until now can only be seen on the garden plan. Visitors will have the chance to see the actual layout and beauty of how the garden has been designed and put together.

Clad in striking Corten steel, the sleek cylindrical tower should blend with the existing farm buildings and agricultural setting. Resembling a modern day grain silo this piece of modern architecture will add to the vibrancy and character of the garden as well a provide a new visual dimension to a garden visit. There will be two viewing points from the tower at mid and full height level.

The project will cost £60,000, broken down to:- professional fees £7,500, foundations £11,500, steel structure £21,000, cladding £15,00 and contingency £5,000. The viewing tower will be constructed during the closed season from October 2019 to May 202.
